Jason Bay homered in the first inning to put the Pirates on top, but that was all the offense they could muster against the Cardinals. Kip Wells tossed 7 1/3 strong innings before turning the game over to the bullpen.

Yadier Molina singled home the winning run in the 12th inning as the Cardinals notched their 11th straight win over the Pirates. The St. Louis bullpen twirled seven shutout innings, with Al Reyes picking up the victory.
