Smoltz finds a win in the Cards
St. Louis recorded hits in every inning of Sunday's loss to Atlanta, but couldn't capitalize, scoring only one run. Jeff Suppan pitched well, allowing only one hit through five innings, but he got into trouble in the sixth, when the Braves scored two runs.

Despite giving up nine hits in his 6 2/3 innings on Sunday, John Smoltz had good support from his team and his bullpen, holding the Cardinals to only one run. Dan Kolb earned his second save in as many games for Atlanta, retiring the side in the ninth.
