ST. LOUIS -- Missouri is called the "Show Me" state and the St. Louis Cardinals are showing fans another way they can be a part of the new Busch Stadium.

In an effort to link family memories with Cardinals baseball, the Cardinals have launched the Family Art Brick Paver program. Families can purchase their own brick and decorate it however they want. The bricks will then be put inside the new stadium in the Family Pavillion to make up the Wiffle Ball Diamond.

"Family and Cardinals baseball are inextricably tied together," said Ron Waterman, director of special projects. "A lot of people remember their first time at the stadium being with their family. It's an opportunity for family to collaborate on something creative together and allows them to work on something that really lasts a lifetime."

There are only 2,000 brick pavers available, and Waterman believes they will go quickly. In one day, he says they have sold several dozen already.

The idea started as one intended solely for children, where each child would buy their own separate brick. But Waterman said he got a lot of feedback from families asking if they could make it a family program.

"A lot of families were coming back and saying they couldn't afford it for all three kids," Waterman said.

The Family Pavillion will be located inside the stadium, at the current intersection of Clark and Broadway. Next to the Pavilion, outside of the stadium, will be more bricks noting the 100 greatest moments in Cardinals baseball history.

Waterman stresses that this project is something no other Major League Baseball organization has done.

"No matter what each family comes up with," Waterman said. "They will come up with something that is one of a kind that will become a permanent part of the new ballpark, and that's pretty cool."

Each family will have an 8-by-8 brick to design. The design itself will be made on a special art form. For more details about the program, fans can call 1-888-STL-WALK (888-785-9255) or by visiting to www.stlcardinals.com, clicking on the "New Ballpark" tab and scrolling down to "Brick Paver Program."

A portion of the proceeds from the entire Cardinals Brick Paver Program will go to Cardinals Care, the team's community foundation benefiting St. Louis-area youth charities.
